Pattern: Audrey in Unst by Gudrun Johnston from Twist Collective Fall 2009
Yarn: Sundara Yarn Sport Merino in a Limited Edition colorway (3.25 skeins)
Needles: US 4
Finished Size: 32" bust
Pattern Modifications: Buttons added to wrong side (by accident!). Sleeve cuffs shortened by 10 rows.
Notes: Sport Merino is a perfect match for this pattern. The lace looks great and the weight of the cardigan will be good for three season wear. I did not alternate skeins while knitting (lucky they were well matched ). Shown with 2" negative ease.

Pattern: Darkside Cowl by Sarah Fama
Yarn: Sundara Yarn sport merino in a Limited Edition colorway (half a skein)
Needles: US 6
Finished Size: 7" in length
Pattern Modifications: Added 3 pattern repeats to make up for using a smaller gauge yarn, then knit to 7" in length
Notes: This was a cozy gift for my best friend. Now I just need to make one for myself!

Pattern: Mary Jane from the Twist Collective
Yarn: Sundara Yarn Sport Merino in a Limited Edition colorway
Needles: US 5
Finished Size: 32"
Pattern Modification:
1) Omitted the eyelets
2) Knit regular sleeves instead of the puffy ones from the pattern
3) Added a few inches in length to the body, and a tiny bit of waist shaping
Notes: I really love how the sweater came out! I think the patterning is also great for showing the subtle variations in the yarn.

Pattern: Shifting Sands Scarf
Yarn: Sundara Yarn Sport Merino in a Limited Edition colorway
Needles: US 6
Finished Size: 70” long and 6” wide
Pattern Modifications: no fringe
Notes: The scarf was designed for variegated yarn and it is a great pattern to learn cabling without a needle.

Then, a month or two ago, I was looking for fun little hand-made objects for us to add to Sundara Yarn and I found these flower pins, which we now have available.

For whatever reason, I thought they would look fabulous on a hat with a bit of a cloche-like shape and knit out of my longed-for corrugated ribbing. And so this little hat pattern was born.
The pattern has sizes to fit anybody and the hat is pretty stretchy, so the fit is very forgiving. Perfect if you are knitting a gift hat and don't want to give away the surprise by measuring the intended head. And all four sizes can be knit out of 1 skein of Sport Merino or 1 skein of DK Silky Cashmere. I figured the sport merino would be better for babies, kids and adults who might get the hat dirty so it can be easily thrown into the wash and the DK Silky Cashmere will work for those of us who enjoy a softer, cushier hat.
I had the most fun knitting the two-colored version and I love how the inner stripes are a bit hidden when the hat is off, but really pop when the hat is on. Once I find an infant I can photograph, I'll post a photo of the hat on an actual cute child.
In the mean time, here is Alana wearing the bigger version out of DK Silky Cashmere and featuring the fantastic flower pins.

Knit and Photographed By: LieslPattern Name: Shifting Sands scarf
Yarn: Sundara Yarn Sport Merino in Cobalt over Mediterranean
Needles: US 5/3.75mm
Finished Size: (after light blocking) 6 1/2" wide by 61" long, plus 2 1/2" fringe on each end
Pattern Modifications: none - just knit until the end of the second skein, and use a small amount (about 30 yards) of a third skein for the fringe only.
Notes: The scarf has a lot of cables, but the pattern is quite easy to memorize and if you learn to cable without a needle (which is easy for cables used in the pattern), it goes fairly quickly.
